A cost-effective location and mobile cellular safety device using the latest technology to ensure personal safety has been launched in Britain. The Sazo GPS, from Verify Location, is the first mobile device to feature location technology to pinpoint a user's position to within a few meters in seconds, without the need for expensive specialist equipment.

Primarily aimed at the general public, Sazo GPS is designed to help carriers keep in touch with family members, allow parents to protect their children and enable employers to administer remote workers. The location of a Sazo GPS can be identified easily over the internet from an authorized mobile phone, computer or via a web-enabled mobile device at any time of day instantly bringing up a map display, tracking history and the user's personal details. If the GPS signal is lost, the unit automatically memorizes the last recorded position.

The Sazo, smaller in size than a credit card and with only the thickness of a matchbox, is available in two models:
Sazo GPS can be used as a cell phone for two-way voice communication and features a global positioning system that tracks a user's location to within a few meters, has a battery life of approx 72 hours standby on a single charge and costs from £100 for the handset plus a service charge from £10 per month.
Sazo GSM which can locate users to within 50 meters, has a battery life of 72 hours standby and costs from just £50 plus a service charge from £6.99 per month.
Features
1. SOS PANIC BUTTON - Sazo is equipped with a special emergency function called the SOS Panic Button. Pressing the SOS button for approx two seconds will trigger an SMS message alarm to all designated contacts. Every message includes the current position with street name, time and GPS data. Additionally, the unit will start dialing the numbers of all contact persons one by one until one of them picks up the call.
2. 24x7 Internet Monitoring - Track and know the position of your loved ones at all times. Sazo automatically memorizes the last available satellite position so even if there is a loss of GPS signal, you will be able to know the right location from the web or on your mobile phone.
3. Tracking from Mobile phones - You can locate and track users at all times, anywhere in the world via Internet or TCP/IP. Your personal website with map display, tracking history and personal details can be accessed wirelessly from your GPRS cell phone, via SMS or at your Internet connection at home.
4. Safety Geo-Fence - Geo-Fences (predefined areas) can be stored on SAZO. If the wearer either moves in or out of a predefined area, you and your other contact persons will receive an alarm SMS message with the location, time and street name.
5. Speed Alert - If the wearer of the device exceeds a user-defined speed limit, SAZO will send an SMS message alarm with location, time and street name to the contact persons. (Geo-Fence and Speed Alert settings can be accessed and alerted using the SAZO website or DTMF).
6. Connect to your preferred contacts with the push of a button. Up to two pre-set phone numbers can be programmed to connect for a phone conversation.
Price
Launched in Britain by Verify Location, SAZO GSM costs £6.99 per month including 5 location credits or £7.99 per month including 10 location credits. Network charges (i.e Voice call, SMS etc) are not included and will be billed separately by the network operator. Additional location requests are 35p, email served with a map 15p, and map via website 10p. These prices are subject to change.
Our verdict
With personal safety high on agenda, Sazo makes GPS technology more accessible for the first time to a wide range of users. A good device for staying safe without infringing on normal day-to-day activities, you can just slip it into your pocket and forget about.
It’s the bane of our times, all of us prefer something small/fast/convenient. Sazo is all three, so lets hope this comes to the markets worldwide soon enough.
