Mallika Sherawat beats them all in the sheer guts department at Cannes 2005

Kelly Brook, British model, actor and TV presenter may be the sexiest woman in the world but we must hand it to our own Mallika Sherawat for sheer balls.

In Cannes to promote the latest Jackie Chan flick, The Myth, the babe from Haryana has yanked the red carpet from under the feet of all the other bootilicious babes. Why, Letiticia Casta looks like a cloister nun next to her!

And if we look at our own desi brigade, we have Nandita Das looking on at the world with smugly pretentious eyes (a mangtika, for god's sake!) at one end. At the other, we have a supremely self-conscious Aishwarya "this-time-you-can't-fault-my-wardrobe" Rai.

And then we have Mallika, unashamedly wearing her attitude and little else. She looks perfectly comfortable in her nautch-girl-meets-princess ghaghra choli. My favourite picture is of her standing with her arms outstretched a la Evita. Ok, so it's a little corny but one must admire the sheer insouciance with which La Mallika does it. She doesn’t even try to compete; she is comfortable in her own skin, and therefore stands out in a sea of people desperately trying to be someone else.

We see you baby, shakin’ that ass, shakin’ that….
