Mangalorean Beef Curry Recipe

A spicy, easy-to-make beef curry from Mangalore.

What you need

Boneless Beef: 11/2 kgs, cut into pieces of 4 cms approx
Ginger: 75 gms
Garlic: 40 flakes
Tomatoes: 4, medium-size, in quarters
Dry Red Chillies: 8, broken into pieces
Turmeric powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Oil: 2 tablespoons
Salt: 4 teaspoons
Water: 1/4 cup

Serves: 10

Method

1. Grind ginger and garlic into paste. You can also use 1 tablespoon of ready-made ginger-garlic paste.
2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker for about 3 minutes.
3. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for around 2 minutes.
4. Add red chillies, turmeric powder, and meat.
5. Fry well fro around 2 minutes.
6. Add tomatoes, salt, water and stir.
7. Pressure cook for 25 minutes.
