EYE CARE
Lasik Surgery
Time to chuck those glasses.

LASIK surgery (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is surgery which modifies the focusing power of the eye thereby reducing or removing the need for glasses. A comparatively less degree of pain before, during and after the procedure and the fact that good vision is usually achieved within a a couple of hours, or at least by the very next day ensures its popularity.
LASIK Fast Facts
LASIK is for both near-sighted and far-sighted people. A laser modifies the shape of the cornea which corrects or improves your vision.
The surgical procedure is not painful, eye drops are used to numb the eye and the patient is conscious throughout the process.
Post LASIK, the recovery period is about a day. Eye drops are to be used approximately for a week and cosmetics and certain sporting activities are to be avoided for a fortnight.
With some patients, vision correction may not be total and glasses/contact lens could still be necessary post surgery.
Side effects of LASIK include temporary ailments such as dry eyes, blurry vision and reduced night vision.
LASIK surgery cannot be reversed.
