What Makes Us Tick

Once upon a time, there were four girls who met in the cool shade of a brick church. They were all of seventeen or eighteen when they met. Passionately interested in everything life had to offer, they were inseparable in the many adventures that came their way.

Years rolled by, they grew--sometimes together, sometimes not, but never apart. Although for a good many of those years they have been living in different parts of the world, their closeness only grew.

Despite their closeness, their identities remained distinct. Though, there was one trait the four had in common—they had a talent for  doing nothing for hours together! During many such days and nights of daydreaming and nothingness, they often thought of future ventures and adventures. Many ventures were planned and junked in those lazy summer days, some for just the lack of a name.

And now many, many years later, they finally agreed on starting a Website for women. And here we are! Many cross-locational mini wars  were waged about the name of the site, its content, strategy, and business model; but there was no stopping Purpleparka.

Purpleparka is really a reflection of our collective yet distinct personalities and interests. We are what we feel—sometimes creatures of emotion, at other times, logic.

We write about thing we feel strongly about and those that we don’t. We write about recent issues, books, movies, recipes (we may not all be great cooks, but we all love eating!), traveling (between us we have covered nearly half the world), gizmos, philosophy or just about anything that catches our fancy. But, really it’s our unique take on the world and everything that happens around us that Purpleparka is all about.

So if you have an opinion you want to share or anything you feel strongly about, use our feedback form to write in to us; we promise  you a ready podium and a willing audience!
